The Parisian love locks on the Pont des Arts bridge have now sadly been removed but the tradition dates back over 100 years to Serbian woman Nada, who used to meet her sweet heart on a bridge in a town called Vrnjačka Banja. He shipped off to fight in the first world war where in Greece he fell in love with another woman. Nada died of a broken heart and ever since the women of the town started writing their lovers names on locks and hanging them on the local bridge in the hope of keeping their lovers.
